El-Rufai Turns To Reggae, Wails Over Betrayal After Ministerial Snub

Immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai was on Sunday night enlivening social media with a post on betrayal using lyrics from reggae music giant Bob Marley in a post that reverberated with his fallout with President Bola Tinubu.

GWG.ng reports that following his mobilization of support for Tinubu ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC national convention in 2022 and the 2023 presidential election, the former governor had been penciled down to play a significant role in the new administration. That was despite past discord that had seen El-Rufai once mock Tinubu with the boast that he would teach oppositionists in Lagos how to bring down godfathers.

Tinubu put past attacks on him aside and won a public commitment from El-Rufai to serve in his government. El-Rufai who was nominated to be a minister had during his screening disclosed that Tinubu had requested him to reform the power sector. However, that turned out not to be as he was dropped by a security report.

The decision of the Senate to hold his nomination according to some could not have been without the knowledge of the presidency as it was inferred in some sectors that the Senate could not have stopped him if really the president wanted him to be a minister. Some have gone far to say that El-Rufai had not been forgiven for his past attacks on President Tinubu.

Whatever, El-Rufai left the country a week ago deciding not to attend the wedding of his son, Bello El-Rufai penultimate weekend.

In his first public reaction, El-Rufai without mentioning Tinubu, while claiming to be a lover of Bob Marley music went memory lane citing one of the late legend’s reggae songs ‘Who the cap fits’ which had lyrics relating with betrayal from friends.

He tweeted thus:

His tweet was followed by mixed reactions with some hailing him and others accusing him of wailing.

There’s nothing Mal said here that is not true though. Just be careful with people you refer to as friends. Make sure they are truly genuine friends.

𝘿𝙧 𝙀𝙡 𝙈𝙤, 𝙋𝙨𝙮 𝘿. ❼ @Drelmoatiku

So, you have now become a reggae dancer since Tinubu refused to make you a minister. I recommend a collabo with @burnaboy
