Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has vowed to do something never done before by giving original indigenes of the territory a place in his forthcoming cabinet just as he Wednesday dared the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to suspend him over his appointment.

Asked if he connects with the indigenes of the FCT, Wike in the interview with Channels Television said:

“When the cabinet is inaugurated you will see the indigenous people represented in that cabinet which has never happened before. Even though it is a federal capital territory you must also consider the people who settled here before the government relocated them. You must carry them along,” Wike said.

On his decision to serve in the APC government and concerns that he could be suspended by the PDP, Wike who said he took permission from the various tiers of the party before he accepted the appointment, said:

“Governance is not about party. Party is a vehicle that conveys you. I’m a PDP member — unrepentant.

“I never hid my intention. As a PDP member, I came out to support fairness, equity, and justice.

“I feel at home working for the government of President Tinubu. He is a man, who means well for the country.

“I’m not here to work for a party. I’m here to support the president, who has confidence in me. I owe nobody an apology.”

On fears that he could be suspended by the PDP, Wike said:

“How can anybody talk about expelling me? With all due respect, I have not seen that person. Nobody will do it. So, the issue that they will do it does not arise.

“Who will discipline me? I should be the one calling for the discipline of people, who violated the party’s constitution on rotation of offices.”
