Under Pressure Tinubu Removes ‘PDP Members’ From NDDC Board

Under pressure of having appointed members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP into the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate replacement of the state representatives from Cross River and Ondo States.

A statement issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) also explained that the nominees will take office after confirmation of their appointments by the Senate.

GWG.ng reports that the nominations by the president had been received with bitter recriminations in some of the states which alleged that some of the nominees were extreme members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who campaigned and mocked the president and the All Progressives Congress, APC during the election campaigns.

Announcing Tinubu’s decision to replace the NDDC board nominees alleged to be PDP members, Ngelale said:

President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate replacement of the NDDC’s Ondo State Representative nominee, Mr. Victor Akinjo, with a new Ondo State Representative nominee, Hon. Otito Atikase.

The President has equally approved the immediate replacement of the NDDC’s Cross River State Representative nominee, Mr. Asi Oku Okang, with a new Cross River State Representative, Rt. Hon. Orok Otuk Duke.

Furthermore, the immedate past Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, is reappointed to a second term and will remain in acting capacity, pending the Senate’s confirmation of his reappointment.
