Wike, Tinubu Do The Unthinkable In Abuja

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mandate Secretaries for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) with the local indigenes for the first time having a shot in the coveted appointments.

Besides, the lopsidedness that prevailed in the appointments in the FCTA during the Muhammadu Buhari regime that saw the North having all but one of eight mandate secretaries has been levelled up.

Mr Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press, Office of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, made the announcements in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.

Those appointed are Mr Bitrus Garki, Secretary, Area Council Services Secretariat, Mr Lawan Geidam, Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat and Mr Danlami Ihayyo, Secretary, Education Secretariat.

Others are Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, Mr Salman Dako, Secretary, Legal Services Secretariat, Mr Chinedum Elechi, Secretary, Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and Public Private Partnership.

Also appointed are Mr Uboku Nyah, Secretary, Transportation Secretariat and Alhaji Muntari Abdulkadir, Secretary, Social Development Secretariat.

Ogunleye said that the swearing-in ceremony would take place on Sept. 12, at the International Conference Center, Abuja. (NAN)

GWG.ng reports that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike had a week ago vowed to do something never done before by giving original indigenes of the territory a place in his forthcoming cabinet.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television, Wike said:

“When the cabinet is inaugurated you will see the indigenous people represented in that cabinet which has never happened before. Even though it is a federal capital territory you must also consider the people who settled here before the government relocated them. You must carry them along,” Wike, an assertion that has come to bear with the appointments by Tinubu of the appointments of the mandate secretaries in the FCTA.
