The Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council,  Hon (Princess) Benedicta Attoh has said that political leaders must use the occasion of the Independence Anniversary to submerge their political differences and find common ground on issues that unite the nation rather than promoting issues that tear the nation apart.

She said it was time for leaders to embark on a shared journey to deepen our sense of belonging and engender a common interest in the development of the nation rather than inciting people to engage in unreasonable acts that stagnate the country.

“It is time to take the road not taken in the past 63 years of our independence where national development plans are jettisoned and never implemented.”

“Politics must not be used to replace the attention that Nigeria needs to make progress.  We must reorder our priorities as a nation by using our human and natural resources to achieve rapid economic growth but this cannot be possible when we are divided across party and religious lines hence the need for us to find a common  ground.”

Hon.  (Princess) Benedicta Attoh in her goodwill message to Nigerians issued through her Chief Press Secretary,  Mr.  Benjamin Atu said,  this year’s anniversary offers the opportunity to reset the faulty foundation of the nation that has made poverty balloon as manifesting in violent crime, insecurity and idleness.

The Etsako East Council chairman who is also the founder of the NGO, “DreamWorld Leadership Initiative for Girls and Women in Leadership Organization” admonished the leadership of the nation to on the Independence Anniverary remember that they hold and run the nation in trust for the future generation whose possibilities must never be foreclosed or mortgage for failure to making the right decisions for the general good.

On the administration of Etsako East, she said,  her administration has committed itself to some principles that will rebirth a united and prosperous Etsako East. We are resolutely committed to addressing various developmental needs and challenges of the council to give the people a good reason to have faith in government today,  tomorrow, and in the future.  Happy Independence Day, Nigerians and Etsako East the statement added.
