Destiny Etiko Sparks Debate On Godfathers In Nollywood Amidst Zubby Michael’s Clash With Junior Colleague

Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko recently stirred controversy with her views on the hierarchical structure and godfathers within the industry, following a public altercation between actor Zubby Michael and his junior colleague, 042 Prince on a movie set.

Addressing the incident on her Instagram page, Destiny Etiko emphasized the importance of respecting senior colleagues in the industry, stating that success in Nollywood is often hindered for those who do not acknowledge the authority of their senior counterparts.

In her post, she wrote, “It takes a lot to be an A-list superstar. RESPECT YOUR SENIOR COLLEAGUES. Claiming to be what you are not won’t take you anywhere. A word is enough for the wise. Keep disrespecting, and you will never get to their position. How you dress your bed 🛌. So shall you sleep on it 🫡.”

While some supported Destiny Etiko perspective, others challenged it, criticizing the notion of godfathers and advocating for talent-based growth in Nollywood. One user argued, “There should be no seniority in the industry! Allow people to grow based on their skill and expertise regardless of whether they respect imaginary seniors or not! The audience are not asking for seniority, they are asking for talent! Bring in talents!”

GWG.ng gathered some comments from the post;
