42-Year-Old Woman Marries Herself in N9.3m Lavish Ceremony

In an unconventional twist of love and self-discovery, Sarah Wilkinson, a 42-year-old credit controller, has officially tied the knot with herself.

The extravagant wedding ceremony, which took place at Harvest House, was a testament to Sarah’s journey towards embracing her own happiness, despite the absence of a partner by her side.

Having meticulously saved for her dream wedding over two decades, Sarah embarked on this unique journey to celebrate herself, as the prospect of finding Mr. Right dimmed. While she acknowledges that this self-marriage isn’t legally binding, Sarah felt it was time to invest in her own joy and seize the moment she had been planning for years.

“I think you get to the point where you think, ‘I might not have this with a partner by my side, but why should I miss out?'” Sarah shared.

With a dedicated savings plan and bingo winnings supplementing her earnings, Sarah splurged £10,000 on the event. Surrounded by 40 close family and friends, she marked the occasion in style, donning a traditional white sequined gown and cutting a tiered cake adorned with a bride kissing a frog figurine.

During the celebration, Sarah Wilkinson made 14 vows to herself, the first being a promise never to relinquish control of the TV remote. This extraordinary journey began when Sarah turned 40 during the lockdown, prompting her to buy herself a diamond engagement ring and celebrate her own existence.
