Senator Abbo Apologising to Akpabio

Senator Elisha Abbo who courted controversy after assaulting a pregnant lady in an Abuja sex toy shop and was recently sacked from the Senate in his second term has affirmed his honesty and upon that apologised to Senator Godswill Akpabio for wrongfully accusing him of instigating the court to sack him from the Senate.

Speaking on Arise News Television on Tuesday night, Senator Abbo also denied any plot by him or other senators to impeach Akpabio. Senator Abbo also ate his words that Senator Akpabio had plans to kick out Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and three other senators.

“I have to say this with all sense of humility and responsibility that the press release that we rendered yesterday (Monday) was premature and based on the available information in our disposal.

“We discovered a lot of things yesterday…yesterday night I also had a discussion with Senate President, my brother and my colleague, Distinguished Senator Akpabio and I am convinced that he was not involved,” Abbo said alleging that Akpabio swore not to have been involved or known that he was in court.

Abbo added that he also got further intelligence on Tuesday that Akpabio was not involved in kicking him out based on additional intelligence that trickled in further pushing him to apologise to the Senate President.

On reports of attempts in the past to impeach the Senate President, Senator Abbo who was copiously mentioned in the reports, said:

“There was no plan to impeach Senate President Akpabio, but there was plan to make him do that which is right. When the issue came up that time I met him, the Deputy Senate President and the Senate Leader and we locked ourselves in one room from 1.00 am to 3.00 am and I told them that the infractions that they made in the allocations of committees and they agreed that there were mistakes and they were going to correct them. When they went to the chambers the next day, they dissolved all vice-chairmanships of committees.

“I want to say that there was no plan (impeachment) I support Senator Akpabio to deliver and that the mandate of his people and I am praying for God to give him wisdom because the senate is a chambers of equals and I am praying for wisdom for him to know how to manage his colleagues because I don’t want him to fail,” Abbo said as he prayed for Akpabio to succeed.

Hon Eseme Eyiboh, the Special Adviser to the President of the Senate, Media and Publicity who was also on the programme commended Abbo for his apology saying:

“What he has done is a very rare act of strength of character by coming out to apologise to his father and his leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio by getting him so hurt. So, I want to thank him for that demonstration and for that he will go places and Akpabio for who he is will not withhold any blessing from him.”

Reiterating that he is a very honest man and hence his decision to apologise on discovering that Akpabio was not involved in his sack, Abbo said:

“I am a very honest man. My apology is because I am convinced that he was not involved. For many Nigerian who followed me over they years they know I don’t say something because I want to benefit.”

Meanwhile, Senator Abbo was fined N50m for the assault on the female lady at an Abuja sex toy shop that occurred in 2019.
