Nigerian lady Alma Asinobi recently shared a disconcerting experience she had with a Bolt driver on her X page who called her darling.

Alma narrated how, after ordering a Bolt ride in Port Harcourt, the driver addressed her as “darling” during their phone conversation. Shocked by the informal and inappropriate term, Alma promptly canceled the ride.

She expressed her astonishment and discomfort, emphasizing her decision to end the ride after being referred to as “darling.”

In her tweet;

“I ordered a Bolt in PH, and the driver called me. I said, “Hi, good evening.” Driver: “Hello, darling, how are you doing?” Me, completely bewildered: “I’m sorry, what did you say?” BD: “I said, How are you doing, darling?” Darling ke? I just hung up and canceled the ride,” she posted on Saturday, November 11.

“I don’t think anything has left me this speechless in a long time. Darling, as in how? From where to where? Port-Harcourt please.”

GWG.ng reports that the instance of the bolt driver calling his female passenger darling is bound to upset some but could be regarded as nothing unusual by some others based on their cultural sensitivities.

Meanwhile the debate on the issue is currently raging on X formerly known as twitter.
