Edo 2024: Obaseki’s Men Make New Plans To Fight Off Orbih’s Coalition

Allies of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State are mustering youths in the state to ward off the move by party fathers led by Chief Dan Orbih to stop the governor from moving with his intentions of picking his successor.

The move GWG.ng reports followed last weekend’s meeting facilitated by Orbih and other allies including former friends of the governor to stop his plot for a successor.

The move by the Obaseki’s allies to fight off Orbih is interestingly being championed by Chris Nehikhare, himself a former loyalist of Orbih’s who is now the state commissioner for information.

In a statement issued on Friday directed at the youths in the state, he told them to join hands with the governor to fight off those he said were career politicians.

He said:

“As we all know, our state is at a critical point in its history, and the choices we make now will determine our future for generations to come.

“The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) is calling on all Edo people from all walks of life to join us and take charge of our state’s future. The leadership at the national secretariat have opened a window for new members, and we want you to be a part of this. I implore you to please go and join/register in the Ward where you are registered to vote.

“Joining the PDP will give you the opportunity to choose the next governor and determine the direction the party and state should go. It will also give you a platform to make your voice heard and participate in shaping the policies that affect your daily life.

“We cannot leave the future of our state in the hands of only a few politicians who are mostly those that have been in the system almost indefinitely. As citizens, we must take ownership and contribute to the development of Edo State. Our state is blessed with a rich cultural heritage, abundant resources, and brilliant minds. We can harness all these to build a better future for our children.

“Our party recognises the gen X, millenias and gen Z. Many of our policies are tailored to offer the best opportunities to these generation of Edo people.

“With a youthful and well educated population, Edo cannot be left in the hands of those that still think that the fax machine is a form of witchcraft!

“Joining the PDP is not just about politics. It is about the future of our state. It is about aligning ourselves with a party that has the interest of the people at heart. It’s about sustaining the successes it’s government has attained in the last seven years. It is about coming together to uplift our state and its about having many good stories to tell.

“We call on all Edo people from all works of life to join us and let us work together to build the Edo State of our dreams” Nehikhare said in the move to recruit allies for Governor Obaseki in the ensuing war with Orbih and other PDP leaders in Edo State.
