Comedian Buchi Custody Battle

Nigerian comedian Onyebuchi Ojieh, popularly known as Buchi, has raised concerns over an ongoing custody battle with his estranged wife’s family. Buchi disclosed that he is facing demands for exorbitant amounts from his former in-laws merely for the privilege of seeing his daughter.

Initially agreeing to what was described as “child welfare,” Buchi claims that the demands have escalated, with his communication with his daughter being reduced from twice a week to a single video call. To add to the complexity, the comedian alleges that he is blocked after every call until he complies with their increasing demands.

Addressing Mr. and Mrs. Salami, Buchi expressed frustration, stating, “I work in Naira.. if it’s hard for you, return my kids PLEASE!!” He called on individuals associated with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) to look into the matter, hinting at a potential movement if the situation persists.

In a subsequent post, Buchi expressed exhaustion from the ongoing struggle but emphasized his unwavering commitment to fighting for his children. Months ago, he accused his estranged wife’s family of abducting his kids, highlighting alleged violence as the catalyst for the breakdown of his marriage.

Buchi and his wife, who tied the knot in 2017, parted ways last year amid allegations of spousal violence. The comedian’s plea for intervention echoes a growing trend, as other public figures like radio personality Do2dtun have also spoken out about the challenges of securing access to their children post-separation..

Taking to his comment section, many drummed support for him, questioning why women use their kids against their estranged partners.

One Vee Vogee wrote, “As you’re praying to get married, don’t forget to include getting married into a good family

One Jojo Store wrote, “Don’t understand why a parent will deprive a father from seeing his own child after separation but the man will still cater for the child

The Victorious Chisom wrote, “I don’t understand why children have to suffer from the misunderstanding from their parents

Mr Btm wrote, “Men please speak out and stop dying in silence. Men are truly going through a lot

Joan Odenu wrote, “Love the fact that men are longer leaving their kids for their wives totally after separation cos some men will say, when they’re grown, they will look for me

Zainab Garba wrote, “Why are ur wives denying u guys access to ur kids for God’s sake?”.

Besides the custody battle by Commedian Buchi, GWG.ng reports that a few months back, Nigerian on-air personality, Kayode Ojuolape Oladotun, popularly known as Do2dtun, had cried out over his inability to have access to his children.

His wife, Omotayo in 2022, filed for separation from him after almost 9 years of marriage over forced abortion, domestic violence, and emotional abuse.

On his Instagram page, the OAP stated that it had been 10 months since he set his eyes on his children, stressing that he missed them so much.

As these stories unfold, the spotlight on custody battles within the Nigerian entertainment industry intensifies, shedding light on the broader issues of family dynamics and legal struggles faced by public figures.
