Building a conjugal life on worldly principles and glittering assumptions but without Jesus is the reason for the failure of many marriages, Kaduna-based bible teacher, Bro Afam Eruchalu has said.

Speaking on Sunday at the Hospital Chapel, National Hospital, Abuja, Arc. Eruchalu affirmed that achieving the miracle of marriage is the bedrock for success for men. According to him any success or miracle that men obtain in the working place or even in church will sooner or later be eroded if the man or woman has not established a miracle of marriage at home.

Afam Eruchalu spoke on the topic ‘Whatsoever He tells you to do, do it.’

GWG.ng reports that Eruchalu spoke at a church service that also saw two testimonies of marriage from Mr and Mrs  who were celebrating their first year marriage anniversary and also from Engr and Dr (Mrs) Onyewu who were celebrating their 40th year marriage anniversary.

The testimony of Engr Onyewu was especially touching as he opened up on how he had to wait for 27 years for children.

Eruchalu, who is the team leader of the Place of Refuge, Kaduna took his homily from John 2:1-11 detailing the first miracle performed by Jesus.

Noting how the wedding organisers laid out their plans with the mother of Jesus among others listed as primary invitees, Eruchalu said that Jesus was not mentioned in the narration until verse two, signaling the poor consideration given to Jesus in the wedding.

“If Jesus is not in your life, even if the mother of Jesus is there, it doesn’t solve the problem,” Eruchalu said as he inferred that the invitation given to Jesus was an after-thought.

“It looked as if somebody was saying, have you called that man? Have you called Him. They sent Him a late invitation and where He (Jesus) was sitting was very obscure. His mother was in verse one but Jesus was in verse two.

“If Jesus is not in your verse one, whatever you are talking about faith is a failure. Biblical faith must have Jesus in your verse one , but these people didn’t have Jesus in their verse one, they had the mother of Jesus. The mother of Jesus cannot do much as Jesus was in verse two and that is where the failure of these people began.”

Afam Eruchalu then said that if Jesus is not the first person in any life then the person is bound to fail as was seen as the marriage wine running out in the marriage ceremony.

He, however, observed that Mary, the mother of Jesus was sensitive enough to direct the organisers to Jesus signaling the reversal of fortunes for the couple as their marriage wine ran out.

Noting how Jesus beckoned on servants to draw out from the water pot to serve the guests, the preacher said that it was significant that Jesus beckoned on servants. According to the preacher, Jesus did not beckon on intellectuals andother learned men who would have argued with Him (Jesus) on the stupidity of drawing from a water pot to serve wine to the wedding guests.

Arc Afam Eruchalu then enjoined his audience that they must have servant hearts and attitudes, ready to heed the word and injunction of Jesus as concerning every issue in life.

He said that Jesus does not push such instructions to those who are steeped in intellectual reasoning and would argue saying that the principle of faith was laid on such seemingly foolish pedestal.

“If you are married on worldly principles, your marriage will degenerate, but if you are married on godly principles then be sure that it is going to improve.”

Noting that this first miracle of marriage is essential for Chrisitan growth and prosperity, Afam Eruchalu further asserted:

“If your marriage is bad there is no miracle that you will get in life that will cover you, so I want to warn you if you want a long lasting joy, long lasting relief… so if you are not married pray for this miracle.”
