Against the background of muttering in some quarters over the legacies of Mr Godwin Obaseki, the outgoing governor of Edo State, one of the major aspirants in the succession race, Asue Ighodalo has given notice of what he would do with the outgoing regime’s programmes.

Asue Ighodalo, a popular face in Nigeria’s corporate world made his assertions on Obaseki’s legacies in his first major outing with the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abuja.

GWG.ng reports that he spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting of the different tendencies in the PDP in Abuja that was also attended by Governor Godwin Obaseki, his deputy, Philip Shaibu among all others.

Affirming that he would continue with the legacies of Godwin Obaseki, Asue Ighodalo while welcoming the intervention of the national party in bringing the different tendencies of the PDP in Edo together, he said:

“Our people should expect continuous great governance for our state and continuous good governance from the PDP.”

GWG.ng reports Asue Ighodalo’s stance on continuing Obaseki’s legacies is quite different from the assertions of some of his rivals and most notably, Shaibu who had queried a notable strategy of the outgoing administration in seminars and MOUs.

Speaking during an interactive session with Abuja based journalists from Edo State last November, Shaibu had said:

“You see, the problem, what we have in the system is that we have too many seminars, too many workshops, too many programs and you don’t have time to implement their outcomes.”
