Buhari’s ‘Lady’ Gives New Perspective On Wike, Fubara Conflict

Lauretta Onochie, who served as President Muhammadu Buhari’s social media aide and subsequently as chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has dissected the unfolding problems in Rivers State as totally removed from politics.

GWG.ng reports that Lauretta Onochie’s comment on the development came as more commissioners in the Rivers State cabinet resigned.

In a statement that has been largely welcomed on Twitter, Lauretta Onochie said that the real problem in Rivers State was essentially about infrastructure and other development indices which the problem between the two gladiators in the camps of Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike failed to draw attention to.

GWG.ng reports that following her stint as personal assistant to President Buhari, Ms Onochie was appointed chairman of the NDDC in what was seen as a reward for her unflinching loyalty to Buhari.

She was removed from the position following the emergence of the Bola Tinubu administration and that was despite her yeoman campaigns for Tinubu.

Reacting to the crisis in Rivers State in a tweet on Friday afternoon, Lauretta Onochie said:

“The situation in Rivers State, is  not about PDP. It’s not about APC. It’s not about SDP nor Labour Party. Its NOT about any political party or parties.

“It’s about the hospitals, the schools, the roads and other infrastructural development in all of Rivers State.

“It’s about the children, youth, women, men and Senior Citizens who reside in Rivers State.

“It’s about the well-being and governance of the people of Rivers State.

Asserting that Tinubu intervened to draw attention to the development issues, she said:

“I believe Pres. @officialABAT intervened because of concerns for the well-being of the people of Rivers State.

“Everything doesn’t have to be about political ego. Let’s put our people in view, by staying in our lanes. That’s respect.”

Her perspective has drawn reactions with some welcoming her perspective.
