A Nigerian man has expressed feelings of betrayal and anger after discovering that his close friend had secretly traveled to the UK without his knowledge, despite having shared his relocation plans openly.

The aggrieved man revealed that he had confided in his friend about his intention to move to the UK for a better life.

According to him, he had openly discussed his travel plans, sharing details about his visa application and the anticipation of a new chapter abroad.

The two reportedly resided near the visa office in Ikeja, Lagos, making it convenient for the friend to be aware of the ongoing preparations.

As the day of departure approached, the man was taken aback when he received an unexpected call from his friend, who claimed to be stranded at Heathrow Airport in London.

The revelation left the man bewildered, as he had not only been kept in the dark about his friend’s own travel plans but was now faced with the reality that his confidant had already reached his destination.

In the man’s words;

“I told this person I consider as friend about my UK movement plan, the day my visa was approved, he was the first person I visited cos he lives at Ikeja close to where I collected my visa, the day I was booked to fly I told him, sent him my flight ticket with sensitive information on it without thinking of any “what if”. Today, this guy called me that he’s stranded in Heathrow (London airport), I thought it’s a prank, until I switched it to video call. I swear I’ve never felt betrayed all my life like I just did. If he wasn’t stranded, I doubt if I’ll ever know he’s in the UK at all. Crazy enough, I told him how me and my mom has been struggling to get who’s coming to UK so the person can help me bring some local herbs and food items. Argh Omo 💔,” the man said in part.

Adding a layer of complexity to the situation, the man had shared intimate details about his struggles to bring local herbs and food items from Nigeria, hoping his friend would assist. Despite the shock and disappointment, he extended a helping hand, sending his uncle to pick up the stranded friend.

The emotional rollercoaster continued as the man shared, “What actually pained me is the fact that he knows how bad I’m looking for someone coming to the UK to bring my local medications for me. Walai e pain me.”

This tale of friendship gone awry serves as a cautionary narrative, highlighting the unexpected twists that life can take, even among those considered the closest.
