Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has announced five fresh political appointments after taking the oath of office following the death of his former boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

In the appointments issued through a statement on Wednesday, Aiyedatiwa announced a seasoned journalist, Mr Ebenezer Adeniyan, as his Chief Press Secretary and Sunday Abire as Special Assistant on New Media.

GWG.ng reports that the appointment of the new media aides by Aiyedatiwa followed the sack by Akeredolu of the former deputy governor’s media aides on September 12, 2023, days after his return from his penultimate foreign medical trip.

However, the sacked media aides were not chosen in the new appointments by Governor Aiyedatiwa.

In the statement signed by the State Deputy Chief of Staff, Olusegun Omojuwa, the governor also announced Smart Omodunbi as Special Assistant to the Governor (Political Matters); Motunrayo Oyedele, the Special Assistant to the Governor (Photography) and Temitayo Iperepolu – Special Assistant to the Governor (Domestic and Government House).

Aiyedatiwa took the oath of office as the 7th governor of the state after he was sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state, Olusegun Odunsola following the demise of Akeredolu who died of prostate cancer at a German hospital in the early hours of Wednesday.

Daily Trust reports that Adeniyan, who was appointed as the new Chief Press Secretary is a multiple-award-winning journalist, media consultant, author, unionist, and Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of TRACE News Magazine.

Before his new appointment, he was the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the immediate past Minister of State for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye.
