The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has paid the 13-month salaries and pensions for government workers and pensioners in the State.

In a statement, Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare, said workers and pensioners received their 13th month salaries and pensions in the early hours of Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in line with the pledge of the governor.

The commissioner noted, “The Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has paid the 13th month salaries and pensions of workers and pensioners in the State.”

According to him, “Governor Godwin Obaseki has honoured the pledge to pay 13th month salary on Workers Day. The governor’s gesture further demonstrates his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners.

He added, “The payment of the 13-month salaries and pensions will help in ameliorating the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.”

Meanwhile, besides the payment of the extra salaries, Governor Obaseki, has mourned the passing of the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, noting that the governor served his people meritoriously and diligently, building a legacy of sacrifice, sustainable development and prosperity.

In a statement, Obaseki commiserated with the Akeredolu family, as well as the Government and people of Ondo State, praying that God will grant all the fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss.
