Doyin Hassan: I Waited 24 Years To Have A Child, Not My Wife
Veteran Mount Zion actor and producer, Doyin Hassan, has clarified the misunderstanding surrounding the announcement of the birth of his first child.
On Monday, the 54-year-old Doyin Hassan joyfully shared the news of his newborn child, a baby girl, celebrating, thus “after 24 years of toils and struggles” on his Instagram page. The post included photos from the child’s dedication in a church, portraying her as “a great testimony of God’s faithfulness.”
However, media reports suggested that Doyin Hassan and his wife waited for 24 years before welcoming their first child. Addressing this misconception on Wednesday, Hassan set the record straight, emphasizing that his wife was not barren for 24 years.
In a detailed Instagram post, he revealed the chronological aspects of his marital journey. Hassan’s first marriage to Adeola Doyin-Hassan began in June 1999, but tragically, she passed away on her birthday in February 2008. He then remarried Bolanle Doyin-Hassan, his Mount Zion Drama Ministries colleague, in April 2010, but she also departed in December 2020.
Hassan, now on his third marriage, tied the knot with Oladunni in October 2022. He clarified that the 24-year waiting period was a personal testimony and not a reflection of Oladunni’s fertility.
“My new wife was not barren for 24 years. I was the one who shared a testimony of my tears and toils for 24 years. Meeting Oladunni was God’s redirection of my divine journey,” Hassan stated.
The seasoned actor, a professor at Conestoga College in Canada, has been a significant figure in Christian movies, making his debut in Mount Zion Drama Ministries. Hassan earned a Ph.D. from Lagos State University (LASU), where he served as an Associate Professor before relocating to Canada.
