In an extraordinary culinary achievement, Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe, popularly known as Mama D, has surpassed the Guinness World Record for the Longest Cooking Marathon, previously held by Irish chef Alan Fisher. Fisher set the record in November, cooking for nearly 120 hours.

Mama D has currently been cooking for an astounding 124 hours and counting, surpassing Fisher’s achievement.

Notably, Mama D intends to continue her cooking marathon until the new year, aiming for a non-stop cooking duration of 9 days.

This news follows the May achievement by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes. Fisher subsequently surpassed Baci’s record in November. However, Mama D has now taken the lead in this culinary marathon.

Despite her remarkable feat, Mama D’s status as the official Longest Cooking Marathon record holder is pending confirmation by the Guinness World Record. This development occurs at a time when another chef, Chef Tope Maggie, from Ogbomoso, is also vying for the same record. In November, immediately after Fisher was crowned, Tope Chef initiated his cooking marathon, lasting an impressive 200 hours- GWG.ng reports.

As culinary enthusiasts await the official certification of the feat by Mama D by the Guinness World Record, the competition for the title of Longest Cooking Marathon continues to captivate the culinary world. The world is now eagerly anticipating whether Tope Maggie Chef’s record will still be acknowledged if Mama D surpasses the 200-hour mark, adding an extra layer of suspense to this culinary saga.
