NNPC Gives Update Amid Social Media Frenzy on Fuel Price Increase

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Limited has officially refuted reports claiming an imminent increase in petrol prices to N1,200 per litre.

The refutation is contrary to widespread speculations and a Twitter trend with the hashtag “Fuel 1,200,”

GWG.ng reports that rumors surfaced, triggering a social media storm with over 125k posts on the trending topic.

In response to the circulating misinformation, NNPC released a statement signed by Group Communications Officer Olufemi Soneye. The statement clarified that there are no plans to raise fuel prices, dismissing the sensational headlines as unfortunate.

The NNPC further addressed inquiries about subsidy reduction, affirming that the subsidy has been completely removed. The company emphasized its commitment to transparent communication amid the ongoing discussions surrounding fuel pricing in Nigeria.
