The camp of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has taken further steps to cocretise the peace agreement reached with his former political mentor, Nyesom Wike as brokered by President Bola Tinubu.

In adherence to the first point of the eight-point resolution, the former majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie who became the speaker of the Fubara faction of the House on Thursday formally withdrew the court action he filed against his colleagues aligned to Wike.

It would be recalled that Ehie had emerged as ‘Speaker’s by the group of four lawmakers at the peak of the crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He had as ‘speaker’ not only instituted a court action against the 27 members aligned to Wike who were led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.

The withdrawal of the lawsuit was consistent with the first item of the eight-point agreement signed by the Wike, Fubara other party leaders.

GWG.ng reports that “Resolution One,” requires the two sides to drop all the cases triggered by the crisis.

Ehie, an ally of  Fubara, had filed contempt proceedings at the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt on the claim that the Amaewhule group violated the court order against them convening as the Rivers State House of Assembly.

When the matter came up for hearing before the court, his lawyer, Mac-Barango, tendered a notice of discontinuance filed by his clients and appealed that the court should give effect to the notice.

The request was not challenged by the defendant’s lawyer and the judge  struck out the matter in futherance of the implementation of the peace agreement between Wike and Fubara.
