Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed commendation for President Bola Tinubu’s prompt response in suspending Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Betta Edu. The suspension came in the wake of allegations of embezzlement, accusing Edu of diverting funds intended for the underprivileged into personal accounts.

Bwala conveyed his appreciation after a meeting with President Tinubu in Abuja on Wednesday, where he commended the president’s swift action and also applauded the directive issued on Tuesday. The directive involved a 60% reduction in the size and cost of travel entourages for ministers and officials on both domestic and international trips.

Describing Tinubu as his motivation, Bwala emphasized the president’s impressive response to allegations of misconduct within his cabinet. He also clarified that his visit to the president was not solely centered around political party affairs, asserting his unwavering commitment to Tinubu and his administration.

Bwala stated, “Some of his Ministers who were allegedly reported to have committed infractions, instead of protecting them, he asked that the law should have its own course and suspended somebody without wasting time. That, to me, is impressive because it’s about the people.”

He further lauded President Tinubu’s commitment to reducing the cost of governance, expressing optimism about additional decisions aimed at achieving this goal. Bwala, addressing the possibility of a move to the ruling All Progressive Party (APC), affirmed that his allegiance lies with Tinubu and his ideals, emphasizing that his visit to the president transcends political affiliations.

“APC is a party. President Bola Tinubu is my motivation, if supporting him will take me to APC so be it,” Bwala stated, underlining his dedication to supporting the administration’s efforts in governance.
