Akwa Ibom State has been thrown into jubilation as the Supreme Court on Thursday, January 11, validated the votes its people gave to Pastor Umo Eno, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election.

A visit to Uyo, the State capital as well as other city centres including Abak, Ikot Ekpene, Oron, and Ikot Abasi revealed that the streets were agog with people popping drinks of their choice as well as singing and dancing to different tunes.

Similarly, the State Executive Council which was in session automatically came to a halt as members could not hold back their joy.

Equally, First Lady of the State, Pastor Patience Umo Eno reportedly halted a meeting she had with elderly people in the State to join in the celebration.

The State Governor, according to our reporter, spontaneously led members of the State Executive Council as well as thousands of others who thronged to the Hill Top Mansion to congratulate and share in the joy of the moment, to the Government House Chapel for a thanksgiving service.

It would be recalled that Pastor Umo Eno has always returned to church in thanksgiving for every milestone recorded even prior to his public service life.

At the thanksgiving service which took a unique turn, Governor Umo Eno, like David in the Bible, was seen freely dancing with eyes raised in acknowledgement of the supreme God, for the victory at the supreme Court.

For the records, Senator Bassey Albert of the YPP withdrew his appeal at the Supreme Court and apologized to the court for bringing up the appeal.

While the apex court frowned at his counsel for repeating the same argument of Akanimo Udofia on the arrangement of names on WAEC certificate.

The withdrawal of the appeals marked the end of a long-drawn legal battle against the overwhelming victory of Pastor Umo Eno as Akwa Ibom State Governor.
