30 Injured As Floor Collapses During Wedding Reception

A wedding event at a former Tuscan monastery north of Florence, close to Pistoia, Italy turned to agony after the sudden collapse of the first-floor room of the historic 15th-century building hosting the wedding.

Approximately 60 guests were present, engaged in dancing when the floor gave way, resulting in injuries to 30 individuals. Tuscany’s regional governor, Eugenio Giani, highlighted that five of the injured were in critical condition.

In response to the collapse, a comprehensive emergency operation unfolded, involving over 100 workers from various services such as the fire department, police, and civil protection agency.

The immediate focus was on providing assistance and care to those affected by the incident. Fortunately, despite the severity of the collapse, no one was reported missing, and the injured were promptly transported to multiple hospitals in the region, including facilities in Florence.
