Journalists Denied Access To Collapsed Building On Banana Island

The management of the collapsed seven-storey building in Banana Island, Lagos State has denied Journalists seeking to visit the site of the collapsed building access.

The reporters from various media houses including The PUNCH, Channels TV, TVC, Arise, Guardian and others, have been asked to wait outside the estate gate.

Most of the Journalists said that they have been waiting for over two hours. 

Reacting to the reason behind the action, the estate management said, “They don’t want hoodlums to gain access into the estate in order to forestall breakdown of law and order. 

The management, however, provided a tent for the waiting journalists.

Banana Island where the seven-storey building collapsed is one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in Nigeria, home to some of the wealthiest people in the country. Access to the estate can not be gained without getting an access code from a resident.
