More confusion over the direction of the All Progressives Congress, APC screening of governorship aspirants in Edo State emerged on Sunday when the state chairman of the party, Hon Jarret Tenebe confirmed that the screening done at the state level was now under review by the national leadership of the party.

He has also rebuffed assertions by those he described as mischief makers on the further pruning of the six names said to have been recommended by the Prof Julius Ihnovbere led screening committee.

FULL STATEMENT

The Acting Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC Edo State Chapter, Hon. Jarret Tenebe, has denied any press statement being circulated in the social media where it was purportedly said that some numbers of aspirants have further been pruned down after the earlier recommendation by the party’s screening/pruning exercise.

The said press release is false and it is the handiwork of mischief makers. For the records, the earlier recommendation by the committee is under review by stakeholder of the party at the national level. The outcome of the revision is not yet out.

The Chairman has advised that the general public, and specifically the thousands of party members, should disregard these kinds of statements that are not coming from his office. As soon as the revised recommendation is out, the public will be made aware through the right channel. He has advised those who are hell-bent on causing divisions in the party to desist from it as the long arms of the law will catch up with them as soon as they are fingered in their deliberate malfeance and rumour peddling.
