Nollywood actor and politician, Desmond Elliot, has come under scrutiny and faced criticism after a video surfaced on social media showing him distributing perfumes, books, and pencils to Nigerian youths at an APC rally.

The video depicts a chaotic scene where supporters are seen fighting and struggling to receive the items being handed out by the Surulere representative.

In the video, Desmond Elliot, who recently declared his intention to run for a third term, is seen distributing various items such as notebooks, pencils, crayons, toothpaste, jotters, and perfumes to the crowd. The distribution was framed as an effort to alleviate the hardships faced by the youth in the country.

This move has sparked outrage, with many expressing disappointment at what they perceive as inadequate support for the youth, especially in the face of pressing issues such as unemployment and economic challenges. Critics argue that the distribution of such items does not address the root causes of the problems facing Nigerian youths.

@Itis Bobby:E say as una dey after, make una sha dey smell nice

@Rita Delta:This guy is truly Desmond Idiot. I saw Very Dark Man calling him out. Perfume over hunger?

@Jonathan:Tinubu lowered the bar, thinking nobody can go lower, Desmond Idiot removed the bar and laid on the ground

@Cherry Coco:“The most disappointing product of Nollywood to date.

@Emeka Amakeze : Smell nice even if you’re dying of hunger

@Clara Obigeriaki:Jotter to write their prayer points when suffering starts”.

GWG.ng reports that this is not the first time Desmond Elliot has engaged in community-oriented activities. Last year, while running for Surulere constituency, he donated transformers to improve electricity supply in the area. However, the recent distribution has raised questions about the adequacy and appropriateness of the items provided, considering the broader socio-economic issues affecting the country.

As the backlash continues, Desmond Elliot is likely to face increased scrutiny from the public, especially as the video circulates on social media platforms, leading to discussions about the role of politicians in addressing the fundamental challenges faced by Nigerian youths
