AFCON: Lagos Sets Up Mega Viewing Centre For Nigeria, South Africa Match

The Lagos State Government has set up a mega viewing centre at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan ahead of the Super Eagles African Cup of Nations, AFCON semi-finals clash with South Africa on Wednesday (today)

The viewing centre is part of 25 others all over the state to encourage residents to enjoy the best African football showpiece since it started on January 13 in Cote’D’Ivoire.

The clash with the Bafana Bafana at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake is the fourth tournament meeting, with the Eagles winning the three previous games.

Kick-off time is 6 pm.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said that it was important for the fans to watch the match as Lagos has the largest base of the team’s supporters.

“Lagos, being the sports capital and the base of the largest supporters of the Super Eagles, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, deemed it fit to provide an opportunity for all fans to watch the match.

“Mr Governor expressed the hope that the national team will triumph in the match because the team has so far shown capacity and technical know-how to win,” Omotosho said.

Apart from the Mega Viewing Centre at Onikan, other centres to watch the AFCON match in Lagos are located in Agege Stadium, Abesan Sports Centre, Alimosho LGA Secretariat, Agbado-Oke Odo, Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Secretariat, L.A. Primary School, Layeni, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Anglican Primary School, Aradagun, Badagry.

Other include New Road Primary School, Ajegunle, Femi Gbajabiamila Mini Stadium, Coker-Aguda, Surulere, Epe Recreation Centre, Sprite Court, Festac, Igando-Ikotun LCDA Secretariat, Onisabe of Igbobi’s Palace, Jibowu, Alajede’s Palace, Ijede, Oba’s Palace, Ijegun, Ikorodu Town Hall, APC Party Secretariat, Ketu.

Also listed as viewing centres for th AFCON match are, Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos, Lagos House Car Park, Marina, Mushin Public Library, YMD Garden, Ojo, Olera Football Pitch, Ojokoro Housing Estate, Afolabi Primary School, Oshodi, Papa Playing Field, Oworonsoki and Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba.
