Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and National leader of the Labour Party (LP), has stepped forward to address rumors circulating about his purported departure from the party. Amidst swirling speculations, Obi asserted his position within Nigeria’s political realm.

Having served as the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Obi found himself at the center of unfounded rumors hinting at his disassociation from the party. Such misinformation, according to statements released by his media aide Michael Jude Nwolisa, was deemed as the handiwork of “mischief makers” aiming to sow discord within the party.

Obi’s response was unequivocal, labeling the rumors as “fallacious” and firmly rebuffing any notion of parting ways with the Labour Party. He attributed these rumors to individuals seeking to disrupt the unity and progress of the party, reaffirming his steadfast commitment to its cause and principles.

In addition to dispelling the rumors, Obi articulated his vision for Nigeria’s political future, emphasizing the imperative of liberating the country from the grip of “criminal gangs” hindering its progress. His allegiance to the Labour Party, he declared, remains resolute and unwavering.

Furthermore, Obi underscored his dedication to nurturing a political landscape characterized by true democratic principles, devoid of the rampant misconduct and impunity that pervade Nigerian politics today.

Amidst internal challenges within the Labour Party, including issues related to transparency and accountability under the leadership of Julius Abure as the National Chairman, Obi’s reaffirmation of his commitment signals a unified front in the party’s pursuit of its objectives.
