“Anikulapo: Rise Of The Spectre,” a captivating six-part epic series, is set to debut on Netflix worldwide on March 1, in over 190 countries.

The series premiered in Lagos, featuring an ensemble cast including Lateef Adedimeji, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Femi Adebayo, and more, dazzling in their vibrant attire.

Renowned comedian Gbenga Adeyinka hosted the star-studded event, held at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja. Kunle Afolayan, the series’ Producer and Director, expressed gratitude to all involved in the project, revealing that the series had been in development for eight years.

“Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre” serves as a spinoff from the acclaimed movie “Anikulapo,” continuing the story of Saro and his wife. The reappearance of Akala, the mystical bird, sets the stage for a riveting narrative exploring themes of betrayal, revenge, and power struggles.

Filmed at the Kunle Afolayan Production (KAP) Film Village in Oyo State, the series boasts a cast and crew of 600 people. Notably, “Anikulapo” received accolades at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2023, winning Overall Best Movie, Best Sound Editor, Best Sound Track, Best Writer, and Best Indigenous Language Movie.

The success of “Anikulapo” adds to the flourishing Nigerian film industry, exemplified by recent achievements such as Funke Akindele’s “A Tribe Called Judah” and Toyin Abraham’s “Malaika.” These milestones reflect a growing pride in Nigerian cinema and its global impact.
