Details surrounding the severity of the attack and the victim’s condition remain unclear, heightening anxieties and escalating tensions on campus.

ABSU has a history of grappling with cult-related violence, with previous clashes resulting in fatalities and injuries. Despite the recurrence of such incidents, the university administration has yet to issue an official statement addressing the recent outbreak of violence or outlining measures to ensure student safety.

Concerns among students about their security have intensified in the aftermath of the latest incident, prompting calls for enhanced security measures and proactive intervention from university authorities to tackle the underlying causes of cult violence.

Efforts to obtain comments from the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof Levi Nwokocha, regarding the renewed wave of cult violence have been unsuccessful thus far.

While official information from security agencies regarding the attack remains limited, the Abia State Police Command has confirmed that investigations are underway to apprehend those responsible and restore calm to the university community
