While the identity of the next Olubadan is known, the date for the coronation remains undetermined. Ladoja, also the Otun Olubadan, addressed the public on Friday following the passing of Oba Balogun, offering insights into the transition process within the Olubadan-in-Council.

Reflecting on the traditional protocols governing succession, Ladoja emphasized the orderly transfer of leadership within the Ibadan community. He underscored the significance of adhering to established customs and protocols in determining the next Olubadan. According to Ladoja, the head of the Balogun line assumes the role of Olubadan-designate, awaiting formal coronation procedures.

Acknowledging the solemnity of the occasion, Ladoja conveyed condolences on behalf of the Olubadan Advisory Council to the family of the late monarch and the wider Ibadan community. He assured the public that arrangements for the coronation would proceed promptly following the completion of funeral rites for Oba Balogun.

Addressing logistical aspects, Ladoja outlined the burial plans for the late Olubadan in accordance with Islamic customs. He announced that Oba Balogun would be laid to rest in his ancestral home, Aliwo, with funeral prayers scheduled for Friday afternoon. Preceding the burial, a lying-in-state ceremony would be held at Mapo Hall, allowing the public to pay their respects to the departed monarch.

Expressing reverence for the deceased and adherence to cultural traditions, Ladoja emphasized the importance of honoring Oba Balogun’s legacy with dignity and respect. He stressed the community’s commitment to upholding customs while navigating the transition process seamlessly.

In conclusion, Ladoja reiterated the council’s resolve to facilitate a smooth transition of leadership in accordance with established norms. He urged the public to remain patient as preparations for the coronation unfold, assuring them that the Olubadan-in-Council would announce the coronation date in due course. As Ibadan mourns the loss of its revered monarch, the community stands united in honoring his memory and preserving the rich heritage of Ibadanland.
