FG Declares Public Holidays For Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr festivity. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government in Abuja on Sunday.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo conveyed the government’s decision through a congratulatory message issued by the Ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako. The message extended heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim faithful for completing the fasting in the month of Ramadan.

In his message, the minister urged Muslim Ummah to embrace and embody the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion, as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

Furthermore, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of unity among Nigerians, urging citizens to continue fostering a spirit of unity to enhance peace and promote national cohesion.

In his closing remarks, the minister conveyed warm wishes for a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration to all Muslim Ummah, praying for the peace, blessings, and favor of Allah to be upon Nigeria and its people.
