Chelsea forward Cole Palmer produced a man-of-the-match performance to spearhead the Blues to a dominant 6-0 victory over relegation-battling Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The last fixture of matchday 32 in the Premier League was a Monday night clash between Chelsea and Everton. The visitors who are in a precarious position in the battle for survival, needed to avoid defeat in order to preserve their Premier League status.

The Blues on the other hand, desperately needed to bounce back from last week’s disappointing 2-2 draw with 20th placed Sheffield United.

As he has done in almost all games this season, Cole Palmer gave his side the lead with a stunning opener. He also scored a header from close range to make it 2-0, before completing his perfect hat-trick in superb style as he looped Jordan Pickford from outside the box.

The Englishman then won a spot kick in the second half and stepped up to slot it home to make it 5-0 after Nicolas Jackson’s goal. Academy graduate Alfie Gilchrist then completed the rout as he scored his first senior professional goal for his boyhood club. Cole Palmer is now the leading joint topscorer in the Premier League with 20 goals, and he has also become the first player in the club’s history to score two league hat-tricks in a single season.
