Dr Asue Ighodalo, the Edo Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, has promised to run an all-inclusive government which he said will be on auto-pilot if he wins the election on September 21.

Ighodalo stated this at an interactive session with representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) at the Protea Hotel, Benin.

“My resolve is to run an all-inclusive government that will enable citizens of Edo to enjoy dividends of good governance,” he said.

He urged CSOs to always speak against bad governance, urging them to speak whenever there was deviation from the right path by those in authority.

“You have to be more focused because we have to hold the leaders accountable,” he said.

Ighodalo also pledged to place priority on security, infrastructure and industrialisation, with a promise to ensure a conducive market environment for women to do their businesses.

“l will be accessible by having constant bi-annual meetings between government and relevant stakeholders.

“We will create a government that will be auto-pilot. Building sustainable businesses by developing private sector participation in the economy of the state,” Ighodalo said.

“We will provide strategic solutions to stopping extortion of traders through an inclusive tax regime system.

“There will be intensive investigation in addressing extortion and exploitative systems aimed at creating a suitable environment to meaningfully engage Edo youths and employable demographics.

“We will leverage on loans and grants from the diaspora to create capital availability for entrepreneurial usage,” he said.

The event which was convened by Mr Destiny Enabulele, a former chairman of Ovia South local government council was attended by about 70 members of CSOs across the state.

The spokesperson for the CSOs, Mr Abraham Oviawe, said that the CSOs were interested in knowing how Ighodalo would tackle the problems of insecurity, poverty, high cost of living, and infrastructure if elected as the governor of the state. (NAN)
