Nigerian Army Dismisses Two Soldiers Caught Stealing Armoured Cables at Dangote Refinery (Photos)
The Nigerian Army has taken decisive action against two soldiers accused of stealing armoured cables at the Dangote Refinery in Lagos.
Corporal Innocent Joseph and Lance Corporal Jacob Gani were arrested on April 14, 2024, while attempting to leave the facility with 897 armoured cables cut to size.
Following a thorough investigation and summary trial, the two soldiers were found guilty of abandoning their duty post and unauthorized possession of the materials. They were charged with Failure to Perform Military Duties and Other Civil Offences, punishable under the Armed Forces Act.
In a statement released on Monday, April 22, Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, confirmed that the soldiers have been dismissed from the Nigerian Army with immediate effect following investigations into the development at Dangote Refinery. They have also been handed over to relevant authorities for further prosecution.
