Edo South Youth Group Defends Uzamere Against APC Claims

Uzamere APC

Edo South Youths For Better Governance has blasted the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC over its recent assertion on the capacity of Senator Ehigie Uzamere to project the capacity of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate, Mr Asue Ighodalo.

Rebuffing the assertion of the party as published in midwestherald.ng, the group tackled the party’s assertions on Uzamere as it highlighted the political ascendancy of the former senator who became the first senator to serve two full terms in Edo South.

Noting the political momentum generated by Senator Uzamere when he entered politics in 2006, the group while reacting to the statement, said:

“Edo Polls: Uzamere’s Lack of Credibility and Personal Agenda makes Him unfit to endorse Asue”  – Midwestherald

This is a laughable post from midwestherald.ng, which puts the author on the same educational level as the candidate he is supporting for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.

In one breath, he talks about Senator Ehigie Uzamere suffering election defeats, and in another breath, he talks about Senator Ehigie Uzamere being in the Senate for 8 years.

Senator Ehigie Uzamere remains the first ever from Edo South to do straight 8 years in the Senate.

For the records, Ehigie Uzamere contested for the Edo South senatorial seat twice, in 2007 (under PDP) and 2011 (under AC), and won on both occasions hence his 8 years as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Senator Ehigie Uzamere achieved another feat, contesting back to back for same position, under different political banners, and winning.

Did you bother to understand what “mune mune joker” means? You didn’t because education is not your turf. Get some education and education goes beyond the four walls of a formal school. When Senator Ehigie Uzamere decided in 2006 to run for senate, some of the leaders in PDP believed that Uzamere was a joker. Uzamere said in a card of game, it is the joker that kills all other cards.

He promised them that that joker would go ahead to win the election. This is the story of mune mune joker. He served for 8 years and voluntarily elected not to contest again even though he was given right  of refusal so that others can equally contribute to the growth of Edo South through stewardship in the Red Chamber.

On Senator Ehigie Uzamere’s achievements as a senator, he, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, will stand to be counted when champions of Edo South and Edo State causes, are to be counted. If not that you are being mischievous, you would have looked for any other reason to attack Senator Ehigie Uzamere. But I doubt if you can find any.

Senator Ehigie Uzamere remains one of our very respected and respectful elders in Edo State and beyond. He stands tall in Edo, and his endorsement and support for candidate Asue Ighodalo is in the right direction. Senator Ehigie Uzamere stood before a composition of some members of PDP National Working Committee, 3 PDP governors and selected PDP party leaders in Abuja and said, and we quote: “the office of governor of Edo State in the next election, must be zoned to Edo Central, and Governor Goodwin Obaseki must be allowed to have an impute on who becomes his successor or I will do anti-party.” He further said: “This is exactly what late Chief Tony Anenih did, denying Governor Lucky Igbinedion a say in who succeeds him, that led to the emergence of Action Congress, Adams Oshiomhole as governor. We must not allow such a scenario to repeat itself.”

Senator Ehigie Uzamere represents the kind of bold leaders we need in Edo South and Edo State in general. Leaders that can speak truth to power. Some of you have failed us by your inability to speak truth to power. Rather, you always wait for your general overseer of Edo APC to make decisions for you. What a disappointment.

Senator Ehigie Uzamere has every respect for Senator Monday Okpebholo, who today is a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The same senate Ehigie Uzamere served in from 2007 to 2015. However Senator Ehigie Uzamere disagrees with Senator Monday Okpebholo when in the video now gone viral, Okpebholo said he had to wait for instructions from his leader, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, before he could cast a vote for senate presidency.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole is Senator Monday Okpebholo’s colleague and on equal status with him in the Red Chamber. From his statement, it means that Senator Monday Okpebholo will forever seek approval from Adams Oshiomhole before he can do anything. Are we ready for a return of Adams Oshiomhole to Osadebey Avenue for a 3rd term? Definitely no!

Senator Ehigie Uzamere believes that all candidates for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State must address Edo State citizens and residents, whom they aspire to lead. Senator Monday Okpebholo refused to attend an interactive session at Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, on Monday,  the 22nd day of April 2024.

Monday refused to show up on a monday. Do us a favour by encouraging your candidate to a TV appearance on Arise TV. I’d advise that you spend your time educating your candidate on how to speak English language and how to present facts, rather than attacking Senator Ehigie Uzamere, who is very many miles away, your better.

If you bother to study Senator Ehigie Uzamere, you will learn that his politics since his entrance into politics in 2006 have been issue based. He has never insulted anyone, and even when insulted as you tried to do in your response to his views on Senator Monday Okpebholo based on Okpebholo’s utterances on a trending video, he rather would state facts than return insults.

There is a lot to learn from Senator Ehigie Uzamere’s brand of _aiguiyekampe_ . Which means politics without bitterness.

Edo South Youths for Better Governance stands with Asue Ighodalo and has tremendous respect for our elder brother and father, Senator Ehigie Uzamere.
