Actors Guild of Nigeria Imposes Media Restrictions at Junior Pope’s Funeral
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced strict media guidelines for the burial service of late actor Junior Pope, who passed away on April 10.
In an Instagram post, AGN President Emeka Rollas prohibited the taking of unnecessary photos and videos during the burial service, allowing only accredited official photographers to capture the proceedings to intern Junior Pope.
Rollas emphasized that all press and bloggers must receive accreditation from the family before covering the event. He expressed gratitude to several dignitaries, including Hon. Peter Aniekwe Udogalanya, Hon. Maureen Gwacham, Hon. Peter Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Chief Kenneth Ifekudu, and Lady Ada Anene, for their support during this difficult time.
GWG.ng reports that Junior Pope’s tragic death occurred after a drowning incident on the Anam River, where he and other production crew members were traveling after filming a movie. The AGN’s restrictions aim to ensure a respectful and dignified farewell for their departed colleague.
The guild’s statement reads: “It’s a devastating and sorrowful period for the Actors Guild of Nigeria; we shall not indulge in any unnecessary picture or video recording that is not by the official photographers at the proceedings of the final journey of our departed colleague. All Press/Bloggers must be accredited by the family.”
