Ossai Success Ovie, a media aide to the Delta State Governor, has expressed disappointment over actor Zubby Michael’s outfit at the burial of late actor Junior Pope.

Zubby had attended the funeral with a heavy security detail, sparking surprise among mourners given their reported fallout before Junior Pope’s demise.

Taking to Facebook, Ossai slammed Zubby’s red T-shirt as “annoying and disrespectful” to the deceased. He emphasized that Junior Pope’s youth and tragic passing called for a more somber and respectful attire, suggesting black or white clothing would have been more appropriate.

Ossai acknowledged Zubby as a “good guy” and a talented actor, but urged him to reflect on his actions and dress more fittingly for such occasions in the future. His criticism comes amid a wider debate about mourning etiquette and public displays of respect.

Meanwhile, actress Queen Wokoma faced similar backlash for her outfit at the funeral, prompting her to share a screenshot of her inspiration and push back against critics. She poked fun at their self-proclaimed fashion expertise, noting they hadn’t traveled beyond their local government.

The controversy surrounding Zubby Michael’s attire at the burial began after his absence from public mourning for Junior Pope, despite being the best man at his wedding. Zubby had responded to criticism by saying not everything needs to be posted online.

As conversations continue, it remains to be seen how these discussions shape the way celebrities approach public appearances and expressions of grief.
