In a heartbreaking incident, Margaret Oyibo Atayi, a mother of two from Benue State, has reportedly ended her life due to depression caused by her troubled marriage after her husband relocated her from abroad to Nigeria.

Her father, Mr. Atayi, confirmed the devastating news, revealing that she had been struggling with mistreatment by her husband.

Margaret, an Idoma lady from Ugbokolo, Okpokwu LGA, was last seen on Friday, May 17, around 3 am, near City College of Education, Abacha Road, Mararaba, Nasarawa State on the borders of the FCT.

Her body was discovered on Monday, May 20, with evidence suggesting she took her own life.

Her sister, Stella Ameh, took to Facebook to announce her passing and express gratitude to those who helped search for her. “Sunset at dawn… I want to thank everyone for their help, time, and resources in finding our sister Margaret. Yes, she was found, but has gone to rest with her maker. God bless you all.”

Reports indicate that Margaret had been happily married to her husband from Orokam, Ogbadibo LGA, Benue State.

It was gathered that the couple had lived abroad with their two children until her husband relocated her to Nigeria, a development that caused a strain in their marriage leading to depression that culminated in Margaret Atayi taking her life.
