Breaking: Nigerian Catholic Priest Abducted, Church Calls for Prayers and Safe Release

Tragedy has struck the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto as one of its priests, Rev. Fr. Mikah Suleiman, was abducted in the early hours of Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Fr. Suleiman, the Parish Priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church in Damba, Gusau, Zamfara State, was taken from his rectory, leaving the church and his community in shock.

The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto has issued a statement calling on all faithful and people of goodwill to pray earnestly for Fr. Suleiman’s quick and safe release. The statement, signed by Very Rev. Fr. Nuhu Iliya, Acting Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, also commended the abducted priest to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, for his speedy release from his captors.

The church and its community are deeply concerned for Fr. Suleiman’s safety and well-being, and urge anyone with information or influence to work towards his swift release. This incident underline the challenges and dangers faced by religious leaders and communities in Nigeria.
