Rick Ross, the US rapper, was attacked after performing at the Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver, Canada.

TMZ reports that Ross was accosted by some men after he played Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’, a diss track directed at his Canadian colleague Drake, to wrap up his performance.

The men, who were said to have been 15 in number, surrounded Ross and his crew after the 48-year-old had exited the stage.

The confrontation started as verbal but quickly escalated into a violent one as it was alleged that one of the men punched Ross in the face.

It remains unknown if anyone was injured or arrested by the authorities.

In May, Kendrick Lamar and Drake had been at loggerheads as the rappers released several diss tracks aimed at each other.

Ross was one of the rappers who expressed support for Lamar, something over which Drake took a swipe at him in the track ‘Push Ups’.

Rick Ross would clap back at the Canadian rapper in his diss track titled ‘Champagne Moments’.

Born William Leonard, Rick Ross founded his label Maybach Music Group (MMG) in 2008.

The label has signed artistes like Meek Mill, Wale, French Montana, and Omarion, among others.

Ross has been nominated in nine Grammy award categories.
