Chief Dan Orbih, the South-South National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissed a group called the Edo State PDP Youth League that demanded penalties for his alleged anti-party activities, describing them as unknown to the party.

Orbih emphasized his commitment to upholding the party’s constitution and defending members’ rights to seek redress if they felt aggrieved.

Speaking to VANGUARD, Orbih stated that as the chairman of the South-South zone and a member of the party organ, his oath of office required him to uphold the constitution of the party at all times. He questioned what people expected him to do if members claimed their rights had been violated and sought redress. He refused to respond to what he described as “faceless groups” that were not recognized by the party’s constitution or leadership.

Orbih challenged the definition of anti-party activities, asking whether anyone had seen him attending APC events or associating with APC members. He argued that his loyalty to the PDP was unquestionable and pointed out that true instances of anti-party behavior involved giving key positions to non-members, which was overlooked by the party. He stressed that he had never engaged in such activities and was only accused of being in the company of PDP members.

Orbih said, “What is anti-party, we need to define it, did you hear me attending an APC or did you see me in the company of APC, if people who are bonafide members of the PDP come to me, do you expect me to chase them from my presence? I have been found wanting in terms of loyalty to the party, I have never done anything, those who are guilty of anti-party, the party will close their eyes to their activities, people go outside the party to give key positions and appointments to none members of the party and you don’t call it anti-party.”

He addressed accusations based on a video where he was seen singing a Christian song, noting his commitment as a knight of the Catholic Church to praising God.

“People are saying they saw me in a video where they are singing a Christian song, everybody who knows me know that I am a knight of the Catholic Church and as a Christian, I am committed to praising God anytime I see people praising God. Did you hear them calling PDP in that song, as a Christian you will be questioning my faith if you say I am singing a song of praise,” Orbih said in dismissing the anti-party activities alleged against him.
