Outrage As Wike Says Protest Politically Motivated

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has come under fire after describing the planned nationwide protest against hardship as politically motivated.

GWG.ng reports that Wike said this on Tuesday in Abuja during an inspection tour of the Apo Karshi Road.

He added that the planned protest is a distraction targeted at diverting the attention of Nigerians from efforts by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

The FCT Minister pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with the Federal Government as plans are being put in place to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.

In his words, “The issue of the planned protest, Mr President does not see any need for that. He’s asked them to shelve that plan. He’s asked them to await the government’s response to all their pleas,” the minister said.

GWG.ng reports that ahead of the planned nationwide protest scheduled for 10 days starting from August 1, many politicians have vehemently spoken against it. They have rather resorted to pleading with Nigerians to wait patiently for the materialization of the ‘benefits’ of the Tinubu-led-government.
