A shocking revelation has surfaced online, showing foodstuffs allegedly meant for distribution to the people of Kogi State being repackaged for sale.

The video, shared on X by @X_Dailly, depicts bags of various food items, freely provided by the federal government to Kogi State. The bags, marked with inscriptions indicating they are not for sale, were found in a warehouse being repackaged into different bags for sale instead of being distributed to the people.

In the background of the video, a man can be heard explaining the situation as he captures footage of the bags, which include rice, corn, beans, garri, and millet. He mentions that they have blocked the warehouse to prevent any of the foodstuffs from being removed until they are distributed to the people as intended.

The man, along with others lamenting in the background, highlights the high cost of food items in the market, using beans as an example. He further states that those caught repackaging the food claimed they were acting on orders from the Ministry of Agriculture.

GWG.ng recalls that the Federal Government began distributing 26,404 bags of maize, millet, and sorghum to vulnerable Nigerians in Sokoto State last week Sunday. Sen. Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, mentioned that the effort was aimed at alleviating the economic hardship faced by citizens in the state and that the gesture would extend to all 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

This distribution initiative was in fulfillment of President Bola Tinubu’s promise to mitigate the impact of the current economic downturn being experienced in the country.
