‘She Was So Lively, Made Everyone Happy,’ Photographer Behind Last Pictures Of Onyeka Onwenu Speaks

The photographer who captured the beautiful images of Onyeka Onwenu performing live at Stella Okoli’s birthday event, just before she slumped and died, has expressed disbelief over the passing of the legendary singer.

The photographer identified as @kelexofoedu on Instagram asked in reflection, “Who knew she’d be gone after I took these images of her last night.” 

He further noted that she looked extremely lively while impressing guests with her excellent performance at the event, unsuspecting of any challenge.

 “She sang extremely well, was humorous, and made everyone very happy with her performance. I was thinking she’d see this photo when I tag her after the event. RIP Legend Onyeka Onwenu,” the photographer said.

The legendary singer reportedly died on Tuesday night, at the Reddington Hospital, Lagos.

According to a source close to the family, 72-year-old Onwenu was attending the birthday party of Mrs. Stella Okoli of Emzor Pharmaceuticals when she took to the stage to perform. After her performance, she returned to her seat and suddenly slumped. She was rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, where she was later pronounced dead.
