Izu Anioma FCT Backs Nwoko On Anioma State
A group, Izu Anioma Towns Union, drawn from people from the Northern Senatorial District in Delta State resident in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT has fully endorsed the call for the creation of Anioma State as championed by Senator Ned Nwoko, the senator representing the area.
The endorsement was given at the monthly general meeting of the group last Sunday.
An extract of the meeting issued by Barrister Luke Enelichi, President, Izu Anioma Towns Union, Abuja and Barrister Onyema Omenuwa, secretary and made available to GWG.ng disclosed that the meeting unanimously resolved to align itself with the vision of Anioma forefathers for the creation of Anioma State.
The monthly general meeting on the 27th July 2024 was in the heels of the Executive Consultative Meeting on 13th July 2024, attended by the leadership and representatives of several Anioma groups and associations in the FCT.
The meeting as such resolved among others that “The hallowed chamber of the Senate is therefore respectfully called upon to note that it will be out of place at this point in time to leave out the creation of Anioma State even if it’s the only State to be considered for creation.
“We state that in the history of agitations for state creation, Anioma State’s agitation dates back to decades ago and has remained unattended to till date.
“It will also be symbolic and historic that it is in the lifetime of the 10th  Senate that Anioma State was created.”
Backing Senator Nwoko that Anioma State will be a viable entity, the Izu Anioma Towns Union further deposed:
“There is no doubt that Anioma State, if created, has the capacity to maximally utilize its potentials and resources for the development of the State, its people, and for the greater interest of the entire nation.”
Against the background of criticism directed at Senator Nwoko, the group said:
“Anioma people in the FCT use this opportunity to appreciate and commend Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko for his exemplary leadership and quality representation of Anioma people in the Senate.
“His kind of representation has proved right the saying that when a job is given to someone who knows it, the results will be better than expected.”
“We are not perturbed by the dissenting voices to this laudable pursuit rather we view them as demonstrating patriotism and showing necessary concern to the best of their understanding as guaranteed in a democratic setting and they are highly welcomed.”
GWG.ng reports that Senator Nwoko had been variously flayed by some stakeholders from the region over his assertion that Anioma would be the sixth Southeast State, an issue that was, however, not highlighted by the communique from Izu Anioma.
