Wunmi, the widow of the late singer Mohbad, has broken her silence after being publicly accused by her sister, Karimot, amid the swirling controversies that have followed the musician’s untimely death.

Since the death of Mohbad, his wife has faced several controversies, the latest being the public accusation by her sister, Karimot accusing Wunmi of culpability in the issues levelled against her. The accusations ranging from questions about paternity to suspicions surrounding the circumstances of his death. Recently, the situation took a new turn when Wunmi’s sister, who had previously defended her, came online to level serious accusations against her.

The controversies with the sister, Karimot deepened after she accused Wunmi of taking a phone belonging to Mohbad from his mother and refusing to return it. This accusation added fuel to the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding Wunmi.

In response, Wunmi took to social media to address the allegations, stating that she will not engage in defending herself in the court of public opinion but will instead pursue justice in a court of law. She expressed her gratitude to those who have supported her during this trying time, despite the “despicable and false accusations” she has faced from various quarters, including family, friends, and strangers.

Wunmi emphasized her desire to preserve the memory of her late husband, urging those who truly cared for him to refrain from tarnishing his legacy. She made it clear that any disrespect shown towards Mohbad after his death is an affront to his entire family.

Without referring to her sister, Karimot and the latest controverises around the death of Mohbad, the widow, Wunmi said, “I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you for standing by me during this difficult time. As many of you know, I have endured a great deal of despicable and false accusations from various quarters—family, friends, and even strangers.”

“Despite the pain, I have chosen to accept this unfortunate situation as part of my journey. I want to make it clear that I will not engage in public debates or attempt to counter the lies being spread about me. My focus will be on defending my truth in the court of law, not on social media. However, I must speak up on behalf of Ilerioluwa, who is no longer here to defend himself.”

Wunmi’s statement is a clear indication that she intends to take legal action to protect her reputation and that of her late husband, while also calling for respect and dignity in how his memory is treated.
