Jubilation As Government Approves Work-From-Home Policy for Civil Servants

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has extended the work-from-home policy for state employees by an additional three months.

The extension, which took effect on September 4, 2024, was announced on Wednesday through a circular issued by the state’s Head of Service, Bode Agoro.

Originally implemented on February 28, the policy allows civil servants on grade levels 01 to 14 to work remotely for two days a week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 are permitted to work from home one day a week. This initiative was introduced to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on civil servants.

Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the success of the policy, stating, “We have observed a significant improvement in the productivity of our workers across various ministries, departments, and agencies.”

The decision to extend the work-from-home policy comes in response to positive feedback regarding its effectiveness in maintaining productivity amidst the ongoing economic challenges. The governor’s move reflects a commitment to supporting civil servants while ensuring that government operations continue smoothly.
