CAF Announces Co-Hosts For 2024 CHAN
By Benjamin Abioye
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially named Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania as the co-hosts for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The tournament is set to run from February 1 to February 28, 2025. CAF also stated that they would soon announce the host stadiums and training facilities for the event.
Regarding the qualification process, the first round of the 2024 CHAN qualifiers will be held on the weekends of October 25-27 and November 1-3, 2024. The second round will follow on December 20-22 and December 27-29, 2024.
Although Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will participate in the qualifiers, they have automatically qualified for the competition as host countries.
This unique arrangement adds to the excitement of the championship, which features players from their respective domestic leagues.
Since the tournament’s inception in 2009, Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles have not yet claimed the title. The most successful teams in CHAN history are DR Congo and Morocco, each winning the championship twice. Other past winners include Tunisia, Libya, and the current champions, Senegal.
